E' ora di iniziare a svelare , sempre per gradi, il vero motivo dei miei viaggi a Capo Verde. Se l'ultimo viaggio, come ho potuto mostrare, è servito per dipingere l'icona della Vergine della Buona Speranza, il viaggio precedente era stato per misurare i locali dell'edificio, tuttora in costruzione, che si può vedere nella foto sotto. 
Eccola: è la cappella di Nossa Senhora de Boa Esperança , nel centro della baraccopoli chiamata "Barraka". Si tratta di un quartiere sorto ai margini del capoluogo di Boa Vista, Sal Rei, in seguito all'immigrazione di abitanti sia delle altre isole dell'arcipelago (in particolare Santiago), sia dei paesi dell'Africa occidentale (Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria). E' un microcosmo latino di vita pulsante, caotico, sfrenato, a tratti misero e pericoloso, ma anche pieno di gente per bene. E' un mondo a sé, anche rispetto a Sal Rei che appare pigra e distaccata, in continuo divenire. Basti pensare che è nata qualche anno fa come baracche di lamiera, mentre adesso è un cantiere : la gente costuisce la propria casa abitandola, sostituendo alle lamiere i muri di mattoni poco alla volta, quando ha i soldi per comprare i materiali. 
Il tutto in una situazione poco chiara di occupazione abusiva del terreno, oppure di sale of plots by the state but with the municipal malsopportazione - the opposite political party - hoping for amnesty, legalization as well as in in support ...

For us who come from outside our experience and culture, bringing our projects, is not that hard to see what could be done to make life more livable and humane: the problem is often ignorance and the inability of many to see beyond your nose and your interest ... Fortunately Paulo father (who has a strong European background, and is able to see the situation from the outside, although he Cape Verde), is working for these people with countless projects: without him, without Church , which in fact he is only in Boa Vista, Barraka would be a much more sad and very little prospect of release.
Father Paul is a dreamer convinced and is able to see things that are still there: asylum for children, high school, the home for the sisters the center of technical / professional training, the language school ... and then a museum / cultural center, school of theological education and the chapel. In all these projects (but not only) he is working hard for a while 'time now, spending almost every minute of his days, leaving dry love for these people and this earth, and my work is part of his dream, day after day, brick by brick sees the light in an ever closer cooperation.
Now I'm studying here at home, designing and drawing with regard to the chapel, plus keep in Serbian some of the ideas that came out during this period talking with Father Paul, and as soon as possible, also begin to work on those.
